Heald’s bollards offer security and safety
First published in The Global Road Safety Review 2015 as Tried and tested bollards
Heald’s range of bollards includes the HT-1Mantis shallow mount static bollard and the HT1-Matador automatic sliding bollard.
The Mantis is an evolution of Heald’s HT1-Raptor series. Offering high security combined with a rapid, low-cost installation, the Mantis is a viable alternative to deep mount static bollards, requiring a foundation of just 250 mm.
Crash tested against a 7.5 tonne truck travelling at 64 kph (40 mph), the Mantis halted the truck with no dispersion or penetration, receiving a PAS68 rating of PAS68:2013 Fixed Bollard V/7500(N2)/64/90:0.0/0.0.
Following the impact the structure of the bollard remained intact ensuring continued protection against further attack.
The HT1-Matador automatic sliding bollard system offers a combination of PAS68 tested security, automatic operation and surface mount installation. At its core lies either one or two sliding bollards, mounted between a further two fixed bollards. On operation the sliding bollards simply slide to the side, allowing vehicle access.
